They did a LOT of that during the war! I remember in the 1950's some of the Popeye cartoons they ran on the afternoon kid's show dated from WWII and showed Popeye serving on an American warship in the Pacific, and BOY were the depictions of the Japanese awful!
Warner Brothers did a few about the Germans that I remember seeing, too. All those cartoons have long since been taken out of circulation, of course.

I've been considering posting that first picture on The Pond for about a week now... but I don't like giving them murdering bastiches even that much attention or dignity.
And make no mistake, turning them into ducks is infinitely preferable to being human.

In addition to war, it's a minor attempt to help morale and demonize the enemy. In lieu of war, it is slightly better than nothing; almost along the lines of a stern finger wagging.
Further discussion along this line would be an attempt to float the USS Clueless, so I'm not gonna say any more. (I'm going to look at the top rotation to get in a better mood.)

I would have expected it to be in San Francisco, not San Jose. (Obvious joke is obvious.)
I used to work near a "FU XING BUFFET", as the all-caps sign on the front had it, but it's since closed. (Google says there's a lot of restaurants named that around the country, since Fu-Xing is a Chinese deity of happiness and good fortune.) A restaurant with that name printed in big block letters in an otherwise-English-speaking area, though...

Number 25 on the House Special menu has an interesting name...

The linked website says the location is Cary, North Carolina.

Picture here. I bet that car would win every race.
UPDATE: It wouldn't work. The blades would be shoved towards the sky by the tires.
Besides, if it did work, it means this car would be hugging the bumper of the car in front of it when that one loses control. Is that really where you want to be?

Speed Racer would never stoop to using weapons against a fellow race-car driver! As I recall, Speed used those for cutting down trees when he raced through a forest. Of course, high-speed tree-felling raises other engineering problems...

I have great doubts that it could get close enough to a F1 car to use them, let alone have the blades get pushed vertically. As wonderful as it is, the Mark 5 just wouldn't be fast enough to keep up.
However, I could see it being raced in Sports Car marques, like the various endurance championships or even just straight GT racing. I'll ignore that it really isn't a GT at all, but a straight-up Prototype; probably a LMP2 or whatever that class is called nowadays.

You'd use it on their fairings as they lapped you, and then goodbye fancy aerodynamics, and maybe structural integrity, too.

Tenka's radioactive shtick made my day; this one made me laugh quite: "While sitting around at home, Toujou was bitten by a radioactive light novel. Now, he uses his powers to rub tits".

I must be doing something wrong
Someone on Metafilter just linked to me and didn't insult me. I thought it was in the rules there that any mention of me had to demonstrate disapproval.
Heavy Object would be interesting - but the problem I have with it (Having tried to read the light novel series the anime is based on.) is something that I have when trying to read any works by Kazuma Kamachi - I do not get the magic that makes them popular. Some of them can not even claim to be very imaginative, for that matter -The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village series seem to descend way too often to stereotypes and clichés in the course of the story - that it appears the only reason why they would be popular is because they were written by the same author who wrote A Certain Magical Index.
When Battletech appears to have a better thought-out storyline than Heavy Object, you know there is a problem.

I'm thinking maybe Komori-san, Lucifer, JK-Meshi, Fushigi na Someta-chan. One-Punch Man, absolutely. Otherwise, too many pre-rejected sequels for bad shows. Way too many.

It's been a while since we've had a season as bleak as this one. The only show I think I might end up watching beyond one episode is Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry. I figure there's about 1 chance in 10 that it will be worthwhile. The rest are a lost cause; they may be good for plundering but they won't be worth watching.

Steve, you're not the target audience for One Punch Man. I read both version of the manga and cannot wait for it myself.
You may want to give Heavy Object a shot as it's based on the novel written by the guy who did Magical Index.

5Komori-san is the only one I plan to watch. I was *slightly* engaged by Heavy Object and Valkyrie Drive until I read more about them.

You better believe I'm not. But I've already had one person tell me I had to watch it because it was sooo coool... and I wanted to head that off.

I thought I had made "may want to" a rejection string? (Oh, that was "might want to". Gotta go update that.)
I don't care who wrote it; Giant Mech wish-fulfilment shows are off my list.

7It's been a while since we've had a season as bleak as this one.
I was wondering how long it would take for you to say this, since you invariably say it every season.

We had a really good summer - I've been following three shows week-to-week, which never happens. So this meh fall season is double meh by contrast.

I was mostly playing (reading, really) Fragment's Note on iPad (purely by accident - it's in Google Store too but I forgot to check before I bought from iTunes). That left me little time for anime. I'm 2 weeks behind on Cinderella Girls.

UPDATE: I got half-way down the page before I ran into anything I found even slightly interesting. That was Shimoseka, the one about revolutionary guerillas fighting against prudes. And ran into a very bad sign: the official web site no longer has a picture of the main girl naked.
And after finishing his list, there wasn't anything I was interested in. Not even the new DB rehash.
He didn't list Bikini Warriors, though. But that's only a 5-minute show, and I'm not sure it's even running the whole season since it's pretty much a 5-minute advertisement for ecchi figurines. (Reportedly they're all cast-offs.) I imagine I'll want to watch it, but it won't be absorbing.
So I went back and reviewed the latest version of Neregate's picture. There are several shows which will probably be fodder for plundering, but nothing I'm actually interested in watching. (Except Bikini Warriors, maybe, for a couple of episodes.)

Maybe they can hire Avatar for Ushio & Tora again.

I do so love the "so-edgy-my-razor-bleeds-when-I-shave" style of previewing. Nothing is ever good, nothing could ever possibly be good... blah blah blah.
I've learned to use these previews to find out when a show is airing. That's usually accurate.

Funny enough, at A-Kon, I ran into the person who has my old job. Talked shop for a couple minutes, even.
I don't think they'd pay my consulting fees now, though. $150 an hour...

I'm going to check out Classroom*Crisis most of all. I mean, who doesn't love cute engineers (well, cute technicians too)? SnowRed and JitsuWata look promising too, if only for the humor. I'll have a look at the new Cinderella Girls too, although not having great hopes.

Wonderduck, I agree that Aroduc is too snarky by half. To read his stuff he hates it all, which makes you wonder why he watches it, let alone blogging about it.
I think the answer is that it's his brand these days. I'm not sure I believe he is actually this negative. But it's been a long time since I remember him having anything good to say about a show.
And frankly, if any season deserved a theater-wide snark attack, this one is it IMHO.
I hope RandomC comes out with its preview soon. They're usually much more balanced, and overall tend to be positive because they let the most enthusiastic member of the team write about each show. Since tastes vary, there's usually someone who looks forward to pretty much anything.
7
I've just resigned myself to getting no utility out of Aroduc's previews. Sometimes I like a show and he hated the sound of it. Sometimes I don't like a show and he hated the sound of it...
There's a couple shows I'll try out. That said, I've never yet had a season where there was nothing good. On the gripping hand, I have a mile-wide strike zone; will probably watch both Ushio & Tora and Non Non Biyori...

8...if any season deserved a theater-wide snark attack, this one is it... Sheesh. What a disaster.
I see four or five shows that I'm at least interested enough in to watch
a few episodes. That's actually more than this season, where I only
paid attention to three, and dropped one of them (ViVid), probably until the BDs.
The other two were Fate Stay/Night UBW,
part II... I'd invested all that time in the first half, I wasn't gonna
let the second go unwatched, and it was worth it... and Hibike! Euphonium, which will be on the short list of Best Of The Year, and the best thing KyoAni has done in a long, long time.
If Gakkou Gurashi, Classroom Crisis, Charlotte, and Monster Musume can pull their weight, this'll be a GOOD season. I expect two or three of them to pan out. I don't really have any hopes for Monster Musume, as I've got a serious love/hate relationship with the manga, but it could surprise me.
