Unwelcome guests
I just found several refers from "Ron Paul Forums". It makes me a bit uncomfortable.
It could be worse; it could be "Storm Front".

A friend of mine used to troll S.f. with the username "Buffalo Soldier". It took them a surprisingly long time to catch on.

. . .why in the. . . what could possibly bring them here? Or even to your old USS Clueless archives? You have barely posted politics for years, don't really mention Ron Paul at all, are obviously anti-libertarian, and don't have any relevant comment sections to troll away in ( aside from this, tightly controlled, one ).

It was three quick refers to this. Three different IP's. But nothing since then, and the site requires a login to look at it and I don't care enough to sign up.
It's possible it was referrer spam.

Before my wireless Modem was changed from WiMax to 4G, anything on my network could have been open. Probes took up a lot of my bandwidth. FTP was the only way to get stuff from my Mac to my PC. Watching them dictionary attack the FTP server was kind of amusing. They assumed I was on a PC, so they concentrated all their attempts on the default account "Admin". I don't even have an account named Admin on my pc.
It was so tempting to try to set up some kind of honey pot, but I didn't really want to put in the effort. But some kind of trojan disguised as a passwd file... would be delicious revenge.
And yeah, it was China.

Da Capo III framegrabs
With 7 episodes in hand, I was able to get 50 candidates.
And I saw enough to make clear that my decision to drop the series was a good one. It goes above and beyond the call of pandering. The harem dominates the series. Ep 7 was particularly egregious: one of the girls got sick and Our Hero carries her home. The she asks him to help her undress, so he ends up helping her remove her bra and panties. And then he spent the night.
I suppose I could have turned on the subtitles to find out what was going on and how it was nominally innocent, but quite frankly I didn't care.
I have to get next week's episode, though; it's swimsuits.
UPDATE: By popular request (No, no one asked but I know what you're all thinking) some selective frame grabs from ep 7 below the fold. NSFW.

BTW, "Childhood Friend" = "Romance Roadkill" (for 99.99% of the anime out there)

In search of cheesecake
I've been keeping up on downloads of Fairy Tail but I'm not watching them. I won't start watching again until the current story arc is over, how many ever weeks or months that takes.
I've got 95 more images from Fairy Tail I haven't added to the top rotation yet, but I want to try to find something else to add at the same time. So I'm in the process of downloading a BD rip of Haganai. It's not a series I have the slightest interest in, but I recall that it had some decent candidates.
And after today's episode of Senran Kagurai shows up, I may go through it to see what I can locate. The last episode was a total loss but some of the earlier episodes had some good stuff. And I don't think it's really worth waiting for the rest of the series.
I was thinking I might do the same with Girls und Panzer but then the first BD came out with a 15-minute fan service omake, so now I have to wait for the rest, since it's obvious we're going to get 5 more 15-minute pieces of cheesecake goodness.
Campione had some good looking women in it, but I don't remember it having a lot of candidates i.e. images that compliment the women's figures and don't include any men. Anyway I don't really want to go visit that one again; it really was mediocre. Bad memories.
I suppose I could catch up on the latest iteration of DaCapo. It was a stupid story, but given that it's an H-game adaptation it surely had the girls (especially the incest fetish, wowee).
UPDATE: For the last three months I've been trying to download a BD rip of Softenni. Problem is, it isn't seeded. Actually, every once in a while someone shows up and seeds for a while, and then goes away again. I started the torrent in November, and now I'm at 84%. I figure if I stick with it I should have the whole thing by June.
I'm undecided whether I want to use it. Why is it that the target of fanservice shows these days has moved down to middle school? Used to be it was high school girls, but now we're all supposed to lech after 13 year olds?
Vividred Operation is like that; the main girls are in middle school.
UPDATE: Some of these shows where I'm looking for cheap thrills and really don't want to know about the story, I watch the episodes in reverse order with sound and subtitles both off. That insulates me from the idiocy, to some extent, but it can still be rather painful.

"Why is it that the target of fanservice shows these days has moved down to middle school? [...] Vividred Operation is like that; the main girls are in middle school."
Same reason as all the imouto fetish shows lately, I suppose... taboo is cooler than not-taboo.
And when they're drawn the same no matter how "old" they're supposed to be, does it matter? I can scroll down to your last Vividred post and see something(s) in a yellow bikini that didn't exist in any middle school I ever went to...

I was thinking about mentioning Himawari. There was another like that, in
Kamichu, who was grotesquely over-developed for her age.
Posted by: Steven Den Beste at February 17, 2013 04:04 PM (+rSRq)

And I have a vague memory that the girls in
Softenni were like that, too. They didn't look like they were intended to be middle school; they looked totally physically mature and at their full heights.

It's not that the target has moved - see Senran Kagura from this season. The high school stuff is still alive and well.
It's just that there's another target, situated somewhat uncomfortably in between "healthy high school girls" and "Japan, why must you be like that". They're not trading explicitly on the girls being pre-teens (usually. hopefully.), but on the idea that they're innocent and thus it's plausible for them to do things like "dock" and plant kisses as part of a transformation deck without any of them hunting down the pervy grandpa plushie and feeding him to a woodchipper afterward. It's a tough target to hit because, frankly, this is a character archetype that is damned unusual in real life.
Miss on the high end and you get a bunch of girls who are implausibly oblivious despite being about to graduate high school. Miss on the low end, and well... "Japan, why must you be like that."
That doesn't mean that you can't have a good show despite not quite having hit that section squarely. Nanoha somehow managed to miss in BOTH directions (the first season has plenty of "Japan, why must..." moments, but by Strikers you're shaking your head at the complete lack of sexual tension between the leads) and it was still a great show. Hanamaru Kindergarten hangs a lampshade on the whole concept by going all the way to cute 5-year-old blobs. But then you get shows like Kodomo no Jikan... which might have actually been good for all I know, but I'm just not going to watch it to find out.

I might have actually been the last seed off that torrent last year. You're not missing much from Softenni. I "watched" most of it, but it really wasn't funny and the 1080p really wasn't a big issue. The 720p version should be fine. (It is the Rizlim torrent, right?)
As for Haganai, if you like Buriki's designs (which I really do), then there's a good number of shots. Sena is pretty much made for that type of cheesecake. You'd probably not get through the first 10 minutes of the actual show, however, haha. (I call it "Spite the Animation" for good reason)
Campione won't have a lot of solo cheesecake shots. That's not really the series shtick. Though eps 1 and 8 should have a few of the Witch of Sardinia.
Fan Service OVA 5 for Fairy Tail will be out sometime in summer, btw!
After its run, Maoyuu Maou Yuusha will actually have a good number, as strange as that sounds. Mostly as they like to have Maou (with her massive rack) in nicely tailored nightgowns. Its classy cheesecake. (Also, if Maou's seiyuu was teaching Macro Economics, I think a whole lot more people would pay attention)

Okay, that wasn't the torrent I was thinking. Though I can see why you went for that one, given that Rizlim's 720p is 16 gigs. [ Other options here:
Rizlim + Softenni ] It does actually look quite good and the rip is really smooth, but the only series that should be 16 gigs over 12 episodes is Dennou Coil. (And only because grain is an integral part of the series' visual style)
The 720p Rizlim encode is up on BakaBT though.
Taking forever to get a copy the first time, and being painfully dulled by the series itself, made me think it was the same torrent. But it wasn't. I tossed my seedbox on there anyway, in case for some odd reason I could see a seed but you can't, but I doubt that'll happen. Though, stranger things and all that jazz.

Modem fail
I've been down for about 26 hours. Yesterday a couple of minutes after noon, something happened that broke connection between Regulus, my Qube, and the cable modem. Just now a Comcast technician replaced the modem and now I'm back up again.
It looks like the ethernet interface on the modem died. Anyway, back in business!
UPDATE:You know, it's a lonely feeling to loose net access. I felt very isolated.
UPDATE: What I was really afraid of was that the Qube had died. It's been soldiering nicely for 12 years, which is a lot. (I'm tempted to say that it's like 200 people years, but...)

Do we have enough Fairy Tail?
I don't want to overload the top rotation with pictures from a single show. Early on that was a problem with Rio, which at the first represented something like 20%.
Not any longer, however. But when it comes to Fairy Tail, I've got 60 from the OVA and 131 from the show proper out of 1980 total, about 9.6%.
Reason I ask is that I just downloaded eps 97-150 in a version which isn't hard subbed, so I could go through it and collect more images. That's the S-class Mage test arc, and the Clock of Doom arc.
Between them, I imagine I could harvest another 70 or 80 images. Would that be too much Fairy Tail?

I vote yes, too much, but I may not be a valid judge: I think the art style of
Fairy Tail (and whatever that rubber pirate show is called, too) is hideous.

One Piece (the lead is literally a pirate made of rubber).

So 75-ish more pics (assuming you have no other shows to add) would get you to around 13% Fairy Tail. That's getting to where "back-to-back" or "three-in-a-row" would be likely.
On the other hand, 99% of anime blogs have a static header, so even if it were all Fairy Tail pix, it would still be more variety than almost everyone else.

Chooser version 30
Version 30, 20121222
Total number of images = 1980
Added 77 images from Sora no Otoshimono plus Forte plus the movie. The big prize is Astraea, of course.
Here she is with some genuine Acme dynamite. And the results are predictable.
However, this was a moment of awesome.
I think that after she showed up, they started drawing Ikaros's boobs smaller. Pity, that.

Sorry, no. I have no idea why that happens, except that it's probably a bug in the flash runtime or in how it plugs into the browser. Needs more Lucy
The top rotation needs more Lucy. And Erza and MiraJane, too, but mostly Lucy. So I'm going through the early part of Fairy Tail, and I've got 52 candidates so far after 9 episodes.
One time I checked out some of the higher numbered episodes, and Lucy was injured. Girls covered with blood and dirt don't make for good cheesecake. I don't know how long before that starts (it was when the guild hall got destroyed in a war with a rival guild), but I'll keep going. If I can come up with 150 pictures, I'll be glad to use them. Lucy is welcome on my site.
