Mouretsu Pirates Ep 26 -- why not, WhyNot?

WhyNot still hasn't released the last episode of Mouretsu Pirates. I downloaded someone else's version, because there's one scene I wanted to talk about.

UPDATE: And it is finally out.

That scene is wonderful for a lot of reasons. What I like best about it is the fact that Hyakume and Marika are totally ignoring the pitched battle taking place about six feet behind them. They trust Schnitzer so much that they know he'll win and that he'll protect them.

Each of the three has a job to do. Hyakume is not a fighter, but he's needed anyway. He's tapping into the Grand Cross computer system and getting information that Marika needs in order to make decisions. And Schitzer's job is to keep the others safe.

This is the only time in the series we see Schnitzer fighting, and he's just as impressive as we expect him to be.

And this confirms something else: Hyakume may not be a fighter, but he's an uncommonly brave man nonetheless. As to Marika, one of her signature characteristics is that she never asks someone else to take a risk she herself is not willing to take. She wasn't really needed for this boarding action, but it's her plan, and other people are risking their lives based on her plan. So she's there, risking her life, because it's part of her honor to do so.

Everything about this scene is just right.

1 I did love this scene when first watching the episode.  Marika & Hyakume doing their thing for planning and Schitnzer is just in the background being a complete & utter badass.  And probably having a damn good time.

And look at the size of that gun, haha.  Was just a great action-comedy scene.

He's wielding that gun easily, both as a firearm and as a melee weapon. I imagine that a normal human couldn't even pick it up.

3 I wonder if there's a story behind that ragged-ass cloak he wears?  It's an interesting little detail.

4 It's easier to draw than a cyborg body would be.

8 I wonder if they had encoding problems.  I noticed a few white flashes during my viewing which I've never seen before.

9 Mauser, that's what happens when you play a Hi10 video and you don't have the right codec. It plays fine for me.

11 When I first ran into Hi10, I went out and updated to the latest CCCP at the time, and I've been pretty good at keeping up on that.  It was only maybe every five minutes I'd see one split-second flash.

13 It might keep being like that. Dog Days runs on Saturday.
