Yay! More announcements!

Ninomiya-kun will be distributed in R1 by Kadokawa. Also Spice and Wolf.

Meanwhile, at the Funimation panel, a couple of highlights (stardate 20080705)

Adam confirmed that the Geneon follow-up volumes for series that didn't finish will be done in a way that you can finish out your existing artboxes without problems.

They restated again that they intend to have Geneon titles into distribution by the end of August and have no exact plans yet for the Sojitz titles that were released by ADV Films but want to get them out this fall.

It was indicated that for the ADV Films titles from Sojitz, they will be working to be consistent with the cover design/artwork for the remaining volumes.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Funi intends to license ADV's dubs. And somewhere else I read something that indicated the two companies have been negotiating.

It really sounds a lot like Funimation is trying to do the best they can for us, and bravo to them.

Nothing from Media Blasters yet, but they're definitely at the show.

1 *breathes a sigh of relief*

I'm sad about ADV having a couple shovelfuls of dirt being thrown in their face, but the news that Funi is going to finish their running series is about the best we could hope for.

Make no mistake, I would have purchased Kanon '06 however Funi released it (my worst fear was the entire series in a box-set, in which case The Librarian's library would have gotten a donation of the first five DVDs from ADV), but I'm glad I'll only have to get the final DVD.

I hope that's how it works out, at least...

2 Yes! I win my bet.  Too bad there wasn't, y'know, money riding on it.

While they deserve kudos for keeping the art, the fact is, picking up so many titles in a short amount of time, this is the only way they could put them on the street without spending two years trying to roll everything out, and that would just kill their ability to license anything else until the end of 2009.   It's just smart business.  Nice when "smart business" and "customer friendly" go together, isn't it?

(Actually, it always does; just some companies can't see that.)

3 Ubu, that link doesn't go anywhere.

4 Ubu, actually, it looks like some of your posts have dropped off the face of the world. I remember one about the most recent order you put in, but it's not there now.

5 It might have been in edit; I was going to add a comment to answer Jeff and then I thought of a few things... it's turning into a new article with some speculation on what really happened.   Probably up by the bottom of the hour.
