Welcome to America, Pete!

He says:

I don’t know who Annie Oakley is, but I laughed.

Oh, dear. This, from a gun lover, too.

Annie Oakley was a famous circus performer more than a hundred years ago, part of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. She was a sharpshooter; her thing was firing live rounds from a rifle to snuff candle flames, cut playing cards in half edge-on, or shoot cigarettes out of the mouth of her husband. One time, on a trip to Europe, she shot a cigarette out of the mouth of the Crown Prince of Germany, who later became Kaiser Wilhelm II. Another of her tricks was to hold a rifle on her shoulder facing backwards, and to aim it using a mirror.

Best part of that story is how she wrote to the Kaiser when the US joined the war, asking for a second shot
