What do they know that they aren't telling me?

Why is YouTube playing advertisements to me that are in Spanish? (In the runup to the election, I always got ads about the Oregon Senate race, so they know where I am.)

Too many Ariana Grande videos in your history?

They read your bachelor-chef articles?

2 Who the heck is Ariana Grande?

3 ...so it's the bachelor chef thing, then.

4 What's that got to do with the Spanish language?

5 2 out of 6 entries were stereotypic (Quesadillia and Guacamole).

...on a serious note, do you do anything with VPN/proxies/anonymizers that might mask your location?  When I'm VPN'ed in to work, I get local ads for silicon valley businesses because that's where our WAN connects to the outside world.  (I'm in Minnesota.)

Otherwise, maybe they're just playing you the cheapest ads if you're not hitting any targeted ad buys or other demographics...

To the outside world I look like a Comcast Business IP. It's the same IP that "denbeste.nu" resolves to, and a trace to it shows Comcast Beaverton as the last named hop.

(That's the IP my Qube connects to, and everything else I own gets out through the Qube via Network Address Translation.)

8 I don't think it has anything with geolocation. I get those annoying Spanglish ads on Youtube too.
