Bacon

Archie McPhee (king of kitsch) has a bacon store.

If you ever visit Seattle, it's worth visiting the place just because it's so mind-blowingly tacky.

1 McPhee was home to almost all of my Devil Duckies at one point.  Seriously, I got all of them but one from there.

I do love the McPhee dearly, and have since my RadioShanty days... good lord, 16 years ago?

2 Have you ever visited it in person?

3 About the only bacon related product they don't have is... bacon!
I've got a batch of homemade bacon curing right now. My wife doesn't understand: My brother brews beer, I make bacon. We both get a better product than you'd buy at the store, for less money.
The difference? I don't get in trouble for sharing with MY five year old.

Steven, I never have.  The one time I was in Seattle, I hadn't heard of McPhee yet.  It might have been as little as a year later that I discovered the place, thanks to The Librarian.

In some ways it doesn't live up to expectations. In other ways it surpasses them.

Of course, my memory of it may be wrong; it's been 30 years, and things change. But my main memory was that it was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be. On the other hand, it's really packed inside, with amazing amounts of kitsch.
