Wow.  Just... wow. That's three of the most impressive photographs I've seen in a long time.

Goes to show, no matter how imaginative animé is, Ma Nature can trump it.

2 Each of the three lightning shots is awesome in its own way, but I think the first is the most awesome. Those are night shots, and the cloud is being lit by the world's largest photoflash. Somehow or other they managed to get their aperture right so that the image was exposed correctly with the lightning bolt as flash. Simply amazing.

3 Makes me itch to get a good digital SLR. All my pictures from my ATV trips are taken on a little 3.2MP HP camera. Miles and miles of bad road and dust have played hell with it. All I've ever owned has been cheap junk cameras. I really want to get something with time-lapse, a good shutter speed and a fast write-time. Arizona thunderstorms make for great photography (but nothing quite like a volcano).

4 Love the photo taken from orbit.  It looks like the planet sprung a tiny leak.

The second lightning photo makes me think of Mordor and Mount Doom.

5 Actually, I keep thinking Dante's Inferno...
