Venus versus Virus: Last DVD

Ep 9 is a slice-of-life, apparently the calm before the storm. But man, what a gut-punch of an ending. This is bad.

Is he like Guy and Luca? This is real bad. If this is any indication of what's coming, this really will be a horror title.

UPDATE: Intro to Ep 10 is another quick combat sequence.

It turns out Lucia does use quickloads. Glad to see it. In a fluid combat situation, relying on a revolver and reloading it one bullet at a time is idiocy.

UPDATE: End of Ep 10, and I think I need to stop for a bit, and let my heart slow down and stop feeling sick to my stomach.

There's a difference between a "horror" show and a "gore" show, though the two have gotten conflated. A really good horror show doesn't have to show you gore in order to induce a feeling of horror or to make you feel fear.

This one is doing it to me. Of course, the ending could be crummy, a let down, but I'm not expecting it. I have an idea now what's coming, but of course I could be wrong.

Back in a bit.

UPDATE: Two hours later. I haven't felt this much fear about watching the rest of a series since I got the last DVD of Noir. I'm hungry and I'm feeling a bit sick, so maybe if I eat I'll feel better and can work myself up to this. (I bought some Havarti yesterday; maybe Havarti and crackers and tomato soup.)

I know; it's silly. It's just a cartoon, right? But I've gotten somewhat invested in the characters. I am pretty sure this is going to have a "the good guys win" ending, but I'm also absolutely certain they're going to have to hike through hell first, and I'm not looking forward to that part.

UPDATE: Of course, when it comes to scary things, this tops anything I've been watching.
