Says Mark Steyn:
This is a lawsuit we should have seen coming:Three islanders from Lesbos—home of the ancient poet Sappho, who praised love between women—have taken a gay rights group to court for using the word lesbian in its name. One of the plaintiffs said Wednesday that the name of the association, Homosexual and Lesbian Community of Greece, "insults the identity" of the people of Lesbos, who are also known as Lesbians.
"My sister can't say she is a Lesbian," said Dimitris Lambrou. "Our geographical designation has been usurped by certain ladies who have no connection whatsoever with Lesbos," he said.
Lawyers in Gay, Michigan will be watching the case with interest.
Not to mention Eromanga, Australia.

I don't know if there are any lawyers in Gay, MI. The population looks a little small to support many lawyers.
Of course, any heirs of Joseph Gay, who named the town after himself, probably stand to gain the most from the action.

BTW, "Gaylord" is extremely common, especially as a name for Indian restaurants. I gather it's a locale in India.

Yeah, Gay is really a little place. The bar (mentioned in Wikipedia article above) does make some money selling "The Gay Bar" T-shirts to college students from Michigan Technological University (my alma mater)
