There's no accounting for tastes

Pete is willing to watch a piece of crap like Shukufuku no Campanella, but resists watching To Aru Kagaku no Railgun?

UPDATE: Even if I do convince him to watch it, I know what'll happen. He'll watch two episodes, announce "Too much lesbian jokes", and give up before ep 3, which is one of my favorites. (sob)

1 It's your own fault. You blogged a dozen of times that Railgun was a techno-horror with 10,000 murders and otherwise wallowed in nasty, and now reap what you saw.

No. Index is techno-horror with 10,000 murders. Railgun is semi-comedic action adventure in which no one dies or is even seriously hurt.

(Well, not quite. I think a hell of a lot of red-shirts die in the last arc, but we never even see their faces, let alone any blood.)

One of the reasons why I only watched Index once and have had no urge to watch it again is because it's so gory. But I rewatch Railgun a lot, in part because it isn't. It's all the good parts of Index without the bad parts.

I just looked up the definition, and technically they weren't red-shirts because they weren't good guys. I suppose they'd count as mooks. Anyway, they're never shown dying, but I don't see how it could have been avoided.

4 Well, then... I suppose you could cash in the Rocket Girls. Azumanga was too far back and my share of peer pressure was too small.

5 I don't understand. I already watched Rocket Girls.

6 Exactly. So I owe you one for that.

I guess. I don't generally try to coerce people like that. (That was what my family was like when I was a kid, and I always hated it.)

I don't feel that you owe me anything. But I do think that if you try it, you'll be glad you did.

8 I haven't disliked anything you've pronounced good, so in that regard I trust your judgment.  Although I've also liked things you weren't entirely thrilled with.  On the third hand, I'm in complete agreement about giant robot shows.

9 I thought you did like Campanella, at least the first eps.

10 No, not really. I didn't hate it, but I watched two episodes and then stopped, and have had no urge at all to watch any more of it.

11 I have it downloaded now (I know that FUNi licensed it, but let's assume the traditional model for it).

12 Please don't be too eager to give up on it. It takes a while to really get going.

13 Do you have any opinion about the Railgun omake?
