The Rapture of the geek

There's a crackpot preacher out there who predicted that the world would end in 1994. Best I can determine, that didn't happen. (At least, if it did, no one told me about it.)

Well, he's back, and this time he says the world will end on Saturday. I think Kovalic has the best response.

1 The world totally did end in 1994.  However, God whipped up a new server update, and reloaded from backups right quick.

2 And the apps (us) were patched to not notice the service outage, eh?

3 The ones who noticed were given the good meds.

4 If God owns the time, and there is no outside reference, he can create a perfect virtualization environment, provided the performance is there to support it. Apps will never be able to tell.

5 The real question is:  does Universe.exe run on Windows, Linux, or iOS?  *eg*

6 Win 3.1. But it's running on a really, really fast CPU.

7 He tried to upgrade to Windows for Workgroups so he could run a multiverse, but his printer drivers wouldn't work. Nobody supports those old stone-tablet printers any more.

8 And the upgrade to Windows ME was the root cause of the fall of Lucifer...
Of course there is that recent research that indicates that Apple fanbois stimulate the same parts of the brain as the devoutly religous in the presence of their icons...

9 If the universe is running on Windows... is Microsoft Bob God?  It'd explain a lot of things...

11 Well, if it's Windows help, just ignore it and reboot.  Hey, it worked for Madoka.

12 She loaded a new BIOS, though.

The problem isn't universe.exe, it's that individual instances of the sentience process suffer performance loss when lots of them are interacting in a limited area. Crowds -literally- get stupider...

13 Feh, Kovalic  stole my Rapture joke....

14 Kino's Journey had an episode with this theme.
