The last Funimation announcement for now

And I was wrong that they were holding back a big title. The last one is Rin ~ Daughters of Mnemosyne. Which I hadn't even heard of. It's a 6-ep OVA that was released about a year ago.

They've got a publicity picture which includes the heroine, and the blurb for the series begins this way: "Rin Asogi doesn’t stand out in a crowd, but that’s okay by her."

Um, actually, from the picture she damned well stands out a lot. Them's E cups, I do believe, at least Japanese E cups.

It doesn't sound too bad, but it's hardly earth shattering, either. I'll probably buy it when it comes out, but it isn't Strike Witches. It isn't even Rosario to Vampire.

Still, we must be grateful for what we're given, and it's nice that someone in R1 is making license announcements. And they did announce Bamboo Blade.

1 Mnemosyne, eh?  I have to admit, I never thought Mnemosyne would be licensed for R1.  I enjoyed it, yes, but it's gruesome... no dead girls, Steven, but mostly that's because the main character can't die permanently.  Based on your track history, though, I can be pretty secure in my statement that you'd hate the show after about a half-hour (of the original 45-minute episode length).  That's when the piercing torture starts.  The depravity just goes downhill from there.

Kick-arse theme song, though... ridiculously over-the-top.

2 You've convinced me. That one's off the list.

3 From the comments:  "For those who haven’t seen this show, there’s tons of blood, gore, torture, nudity, sex, lesbians, and all kinds of hardcore stuff. Definitely not a show to watch with your mother. But it’s a good series none the less. Worth picking up."

Um, yeah, if you really liked Elfen Lied, maybe...  I mean, I'm good to go with everything from "nudity" on, but the first three might be a problem.

4 I just watched the OP, ED, and promo on Youtube. I'd be interested in some nice drawings of the women, but only if they're not being tied up, tortured, raped, stabbed, beaten up, etc. Since those seem to be the main attractions of the show, I doubt I'd find much.

The nicest thing I can say about the music is that it wasn't rap.

5 The OP song amuses me, J.  It's like the epitome of every excess ever put in a metal track.

The pity of Mnemosyne is that it's really quite good.  The terrible cruelty that flies around the show, however, makes it difficult for anybody with a soul to watch.

Wonderduck, I think I must be getting really, really old. I couldn't watch that video all the way through.

Maybe it's because I got tired of rock before heavy metal became a big thing, and nowadays I don't listen to music at all. Or maybe it's because I was always a square.
