Strike Witches -- apparently it's real

It's Friday in Japan, and apparently the announcement was real. No details yet on just what characters will be in it, or what excuse Gonzo will use to get the story moving again.

UPDATE: Sankaku has a bit more (NSFW).

UPDATE: Pete points out that "continuity" and "logic" aren't really needed for a sequel when money beckons. He's certainly correct about that, but it would be nice if they made at least a token attempt at including them.

Of course, considering the way the first series ended perhaps that is too much to hope for.

And as he says, at least we'll have panchira.

Which only goes to show that Gonzo, for all its celebrated financial troubles, has more sense and a better connection with/to the fans than KyoAni and Kadokawa.

Really, I can't help but laugh over all the screaming.  I mean, come on, I gave up believing in KyoAni after a year and a half....

But I'll have my Pantsu Witches to watch!

2 Bit unfair to KyoAni, isn't it? Gonzo is a much larger part of the Strike Witches franchise than KyoAni is of the Haruhi one.

3 I'm not so sure about GONZO the mecha musume powerhouse. Have you seen the playing cards at Rocket's site? With tank girls?

4 I remember that the tarot cards had some characters that didn't show up in the Strike Witches TV series. Is that what you're talking about? If not, what (or who?) is "Rocket"?

5 I mean http://www.adorablerockets.com/ . His VN "Starlight" sort of opened the VN world for me, and also he is or used to be on Sixten's blogroll.  The blog is quite dead these days.

6 Man, I am so unhip and uncool. I don't know what "VN" stands for, either. (Some googling comes up with "Visual Novel", which makes more sense than "virtual network".)
