Spring 2013 is coming on like a freight train

And it's about that time: let's look ahead at the spring season!

We got mecha stories (including yet another Gundam series).

We got lots of sequels. Nyaruko-chan gets a sequel.

We get "strange couple" love stories, like one about hair cutting and one about a mermaid and one about a ghost.

We get idols, like yet another story in the Pretty Cure canon.

We get imouto fetish shows: another "My sister can't be this cute" series.

Hey, we get ponies!

Good Lord, we get another "Hyakka Ryouran" series.

All is not lost. We also get the next Railgun series. It's called "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S" and I assume it'll be 2 cours. The publicity photo show Mikoto holding one of the night vision goggles that the Sisters wear, so I think it means that the Sisters will be part of the series. (Who will protect Last Order from Kuroko first time they meet? The mind boggles. Good thing Accelerator is still around.)

So I've got at least one show to watch.

1 One odd thing is the sequel to Katanagatari. Everyone who watched the original praised it as second coming of Haibane Renmei, and now it has a sequel? Seriously?

2 Katanagatari isn't getting a sequel - it's a rebroadcast during the Noitamina block, as opposed to the monthly pay-per-view broadcast it originally got.

The "S" in the Railgun adaptation stands for Sisters, but the show is pretty much picking up continuity from the point where the first season ended, as opposed to where the adaptation of Index is presently up to. In other words, it's waaaaay before Last Order is a concern (the arc it's adapting should be obvious, but *shrug* spoilers and all that).

I figured the "S" stood for sequel.

How do you know those things, if you don't mind telling me?

4 It was part of the original announcement details for the series, from what I remember. I might be partially wrong on the "S" thing (I'm going to assume it's purposefully being a little ambiguous - "Second" would be a pretty traditional JC Staff sequel name, after all), but the actual content has been specifically confirmed at this point.

5 The initial annoucements said it would be the "Sisters" arc.  Further, the Railgun anime is based off a manga and the Sisters arc took a very, very long time.  There's enough to cover probably 18-20 episodes plus some filler here and there.

The weird bit is this, though: the Railgun Anime made come choices that were retconned into both the Railgun Manga and, as a total result, the main Index series.  So the Anime staff actually has the ability to change things to better suit it being an anime and won't get hell for it.  Which makes for a lot of fun possibilities

And with both the director and writing staff back, the series really should be in good hands.  Considering the last series sold.nearly 25k per volume, I think we can all assume this is the major player for top sales of the season.

Plus, I haven't heard "Oneeeee-san" said enough lately.  Actually, sounds like a plan.  I'll watch some Railgun tonight.

8 Unlike the PowerPuff Girls, Ponies are NOT remade for Japan, only redubbed.
