When I close comments on a particular thread, it means "Don't make comments about this subject." It doesn't mean "Put comments about this subject on a different thread."

When I delete your off-topic derail comment on the other thread, it means "Yes, I really didn't want comments on this topic." It doesn't mean "Please post your comment a second time so I can delete it a second time."

1 I wish I could express surprise at this. Some people just don't seem to understand plain English.

But-but-but-but-but-but!!!

Isn't it every reader's constitutional right to show that (s)he's smarter than the blogger and all the other readers put together?  I'm sure it's in there somewhere....

/sarcasm off

3 Thanks for not just pulling comments on all the threads.  I can imagine how annoying it must be to find an off-topic, unwanted comment in one of your anime threads.  They seem to usually be enjoyable conversations.

4 UBU!  You're back!!!

5 Which, of course, it is your right to do, because you run this site, not me or anyone else.  The First Amendment applies to the government, not private individuals and their Web sites.  Or, as I keep saying, "There may be free speech, but there is no free lunch.  You want to make a speech, you get your own blog."

You're have a right to speak freely, but you don't have a right to an audience.

It's interesting how many people think that their right to speak freely implies an obligation on my part to listen to them.

7 Wait, wait, I'm sure it's in the constitutional, the part right after "We the people, in order to form a more pluribus unum..." or something like that.

Heh. You think blogs are bad, I used to HATE being mod of the guild board in EQ.  "I'm not Congress and the 1st amendment doesn't apply here.  Freedom of speech belongs to those who own a soapbox. This one belongs to the guild, not you."  But every mother's son thought otherwise.

And yes, I've been sort of back for a while... the immediate crisis passed within a week, but it's forced some changes in lifestyle and free time is not as easy to find.  I will probably have a full post on Majou later tonight.

Animé order in!

I thought the point of ditching the old blog was to get away from those people...

And

9 That was the reason I started blogging about anime in October of 2004, yes.

When I saw you'd closed the comments on that post, I KNEW some dolt was going to put their response in another thread.  Sure enough.

I linked to one of your articles a long time ago (it was dealing with a funny proposal involving flywheels) and people who couldn't argue with you on your site came over to mine to try and launch their arguments.

Sadly their enthusiasm is an inexhaustible resource.

11 The flywheel one?  LOL.

I suppose this is the flipside of the fact that USS Clueless still gets regular daily hits. . .

12 Steve, it was intended as a joke.  Sorry if you took offense.
