Well, things have sure turned dark with this episode. Two more episodes, so we're in the final arc.
The android in Hank's shop has activated. Her name is Queen. The basic story here is that we're at a conjunction of parallel worlds. Wyndaria seems to be a place between places, a favored plane to connect to other planes during conjunctions. The shipwrecked people are probably all from parallel universes. In fact, it may be that all the humans in that place are from, or are descended from people who were from, other universes. Which would explain the wide variety of races. None of them are native.
Some of the parallel worlds are very high tech. Someone built Queen, for example, who seems to be an AI. She's also super strong and can fly. And someone built that metal warship.
That would also explain the schizotech aspects of that town. They've inherited strange bits and pieces of technology without rhyme or reason.
That is probably the reason for the ban on recovering items from the sea. Some of them could be profoundly dangerous -- as indeed, Queen certainly is. And probably Rick's sword is.
The alien fleet (and I mean truly alien; the crew are lizardmen) seems to be there to find Kaguya. Why they want her isn't clear. Kaguya herself doesn't know. Queen's first plan to protect her was to hide her in the dungeon of the castle. While the enemy was laying waste to the town searching for Kaguya, Queen would use that time to prepare a counterattack.
Kaguya overruled that and decided to protect the town by surrendering. Queen has accepted this. But she gave Kaguya's pendant to Xiaomei, for a reason which presumably will become apparent next episode.
Rick's sword appears in the next ep preview, and the presumption is that the combination of that pendant and the sword will have some significance. Maybe it's a power up. Maybe it's a badge of office.
Maybe Rick was royalty, for instance. And Kaguya, too. I've been toying with the idea that she's his sister. Queen hasn't met Rick yet; it'll be interesting to see what she says when she does.
Anyway, the title of the next episode is "The Decisive Battle". Which suggests that we get a lot of fighting in episode 11, and then episode 12 will be about character decisions, particularly Rick.
