Queen's Blade R1

So the announcement that Media Blasters has licensed Queen's Blade is good news.

How could that possibly be good? you ask. It means that Media Blasters hasn't given up on anime for R1. This the first license announcement from Media Blaster in a hell of a long time, and it's nice to know they're still in the game.

And Queen's Blade is their kind of title, it has to be said. The real question is whether they'll release QB on BD. I don't think Media Blasters has ever released a title on BD before.

1 Given how much boobs there are in Queen's Blade, it's a fairly safe investment for them. I'd just wish they'd go for something better like Bakemonogatari. Hell, the uncensored Macademi WAsshoi has enough boobs to satisfy most NA fans. And I'm just hoping too much for them to license True Mazinger.

I'm still holding out hope that MB will license Macademi Wasshoi. But some of those other titles you mention aren't the kind of show they tend to release. They don't tend to go for high-profile shows; they prefer orphans they can license for dirt cheap.

For a long time, Sirabella's policy was to do one high-profile series per year. I suspect the general release schedule is slowed down right now, but their current planned high-profile title is Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny. Looks like Queen's Blade is their next one.

Something like Bakemonogatari just isn't in the cards for them.

3 They own (or at least, they used to own) their own DVD authoring system. Doubtful they've upgraded to blu-ray, I'm afraid.
