Obama-sama

I keep a folder on my desk where I store links I've run into that I think I might want to find again. Under it are a large number of folders, about various targets of discussion, e.g. "North America, Europe, UN, Israel, Tranzi, War". A couple of months ago I added a newone named "Obamasama" for purposes of holding links I thought were ridiculously fawning regarding The One, or news articles where the reporter has overly strained himself to get Obama into the headline. Here is some of what's in there:

Power blackout in Hawaii left Obama family in dark (and nevermind all those other people in Hawaii; they don't matter)

Obamas checking in to hotel steeped in D.C. history

Obama takes a break for some chili and sausage (Alert the media! Oh, I guess they already did...)

Bin Laden message not seen as threat to U.S., Obama (Glad they included the rest of us Americans in there)

And today we got another one. Looks like they've changed it; originally it said "Israel - We'll exit Gaza by time Obama sworn in". But I guess someone at CNN realized just how obsequious that sounded, and they changed it to "Israel says it plans swift Gaza withdrawal". But it still includes this:

An Israeli Foreign Ministry official said that the pullout, which already had begun Sunday, could be finished by Tuesday evening.

The official, who declined to be named, said that the withdrawal could be complete before U.S. President-elect Barack Obama takes his oath of office in Washington at noon ET Tuesday -- 7 p.m. in Israel -- though commanders have not been given that deadline.

comments disabledI tell you, the press is absolutely giddy. I wonder how long before the hangover sets it? It'll be a while, I fear. Maybe months, maybe even years. And until it does, get used to the fact that for the press, the world now revolves around Barack Obama. It's going to be a nauseating ride.

UPDATE: I note that many on the left want the new Congress to "investigate" the Bush administration, ideally leading to prosecution, and ultimately to throwing everyone who worked for Bush into jail. I finally figured out why. With Bush gone, it's going to leave an empty hole in their lives. Who will they use as the object for their two-minute hates?

They want Congressional investigations so that they can keep obsessing on Bush and hating him. It's a drug they've become addicted to.

It's like the way the 60's generation has never let go of Viet Nam.
