She's not trying to see in. She's just standing next to the door. But her snout is foreshortened.

Based on evidence from the comic strip, apparently people who see Florence for the first time find her exotic and beautiful, but not particularly terrifying. We know that's the case for kids; they always want a hug.

Does that mean that you've already met a bipedal wolf who didn't speak clearly? 

8 Well, it makes sense.  The setting is interstellar with alien species, and copious robots.  People are used to dealing with non-human beings on various levels.  Also, I'm willing to bet whoever designed the Bowman's Wolf didn't intend for them to be terrifying, and factored that into design.  Hence, a result that looks less "fearsome predator" and more "cute and furry".

Probably so. And it doesn't hurt that Florence is extremely well socialized and amazingly lovable. The family that adopted her did a really good job raising her.
