I'm rewatching the first half of Negima!? in eager preparation for tomorrow's delivery of the second half of the series. And I'm becoming more and more aware of just how good the music for this series is. The composer has done a lot of work but this is the first show by him/her that I've seen. (Is ä½³ kei a man's name or a woman's name?)
There's a polka that they run behind more comic scenes, for instance, that I really like a lot.
Another thing I like a lot is the conceit used in the OP, and in some of the later crowd scenes, where each character is accompanied by a display of her position number in the class (e.g. "No. 8" for Asuna). It's just a little thing, one of the background sight-gags that Shinbo seems to pepper his shows with.
UPDATE: They show the numbers in the OP when you can see the characters and also when you cannot, such as:

But even with this they have fun. In this picture:

The numbers are there, but they've geometrically distorted them so much that you can't read them. And thus can't tell which one dropped her skirt.
But I know who it is, because it's shown happening in the series.
UPDATE: I love, love, love the Walking Club. Fuka and Fumika wear costumes from Teletubbies, and they and Kaede goose-step while chanting æ•£æ© æ•£æ© æ•£æ©... (sanpo sanpo sanpo...) Which word means "walk" or "stroll".
It's just entirely too silly. I wonder if that's something Shinbo created. Or made better. Do the Teletubby costumes appear in the original manga?
So I looked it up in Wikipedia, and the Walking Club is in the manga, but the Teletubby costumes are unique to Negima!? which is about what I expected.
UPDATE: This is for Pete:
