Maken-ki -- ep 1

I was hoping for a sub of Maken-ki to appear today some time, but there's no sign of one so far. Anyone know if any circle has said they would do this series?

Aroduc watches raws and relies on his Japanese to understand them, so he's posted about it. He hated it.

Of course, he hates almost everything but that doesn't mean he's wrong about this particular series. And his usual voluminous collection of frame grabs is interesting. Especially the "Please buy the BD" censorship shots.

I guess we're all used to that by now, but he's right that they could a least have done a classier job of censorship. Big white blobs are rather tacky. Special icons, or assistaroids with signs, or figures made out of Pla-doh, or fluttering bats, are a lot cooler if you must do something.

1 All I've found so far is a raw and a Dutch sub. If no one subs it, not like it's a great loss.

And I think your last sentence was meant for the prior post.

2 Well, it's too early to be giving up yet. (And I fixed that problem.)

3 The Play-doh figures in Macademi were particularly fun.  They weren't just censors, I actually liked them.

4 Hatsuyuki said they'll sub Maken-ki. http://hatsuyuki-fansubs.com/component/content/article/13-latest/760-autumn-2011-announcement.html

5 Well, faint hope from that announcement. It was last Sunday and at that time they said they didn't know who the staff was going to be.

6 JNE-Fansubs just posted one. Check Nyaa-torrents.

7 I'm downloading Hatsuyuki as I post this.

JNE says he did his translation using Google translator, working from the Dutch version a couple of days ago.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Hatsuyuki says they're going to release twice for each episode. First, as soon as possible, based on the (censored) MX raw. Then, again a couple of days later based on the (presumed uncensored) AT-X raw.

I wonder if the AT-X version really will be uncensored. There was a time when that was true, but more recently the AT-X version is often exactly the same because the studios want to reserve the uncensored version for the BDs.

9 And, it's done. But it's too late this evening for me to watch it and post about it.

10 Guess I was too fast, I didn't see the other version.  I've posted based on the JNE version.  And yes, it had some issues.
