Grenade launchers?

On Andy's "Gun of the Week", what are the two guys hanging off the bottom of the stock in the front? They don't look like grenades, and they don't look like lasers (and if it was that, why two?).

1 It's a bipod.

2 OK. That makes sense. I should have figured it out.

3 It's a very popular design for some reason. I think it's fugly and snatches on things. But it's widespread enough to have a role in CSO (which I have on DVD).

That thing is based on a BAR chassis, has a 16" barrel, and fires 30-06. Your going to need to fire it off a bipod or other support to hit anything with the follow up shot. Pairing 30-06 (or .308) and a barrel that short make no sense what so ever. 22-24" is ideal for that caliber. Bipod forward folded is correct (allows use of the front handguard). That one looks like a Harris.

5 He said it was Ohio Ordnance HCAR.

6 'Harris bipod' (on the HCAR).

7 There was an Azumanga / Band of Brothers cross-over doujin, where Tomo fires BAR from sling. Of course.
