Kampfer

So that series is over. And no one kills any of the girls, so that's one big fear about the series unrealized.

Reports are that it starts semi-serious but rapidly descends into farce and fan service, and ends with an incomprehensible trainwreck.

Which makes it sound like Strike Witches, actually. I may give it a go, even with a gender bender main character (ick).

But the only version of it posted to BakaBT so far is 480p and I'd rather wait for a 720p version. (And anyway, that 480p torrent hasn't been approved yet.) Meanwhile, TokyoToshokan seems to be dead; every time I try to access it, it times out.

Alas. There's nothing I really want to watch right now. I just rewatched Realbout High School, and it's really growing on me. I would say now that it's the second best Gonzo series I've watched, behind only Vandread. I'd put it well above Strike Witches and Saki. I also rewatched Summer Wars, and that is an awesome movie. (We need a cleaner, larger version of it!)

But I look at the stuff going by on TokyoTosho (except today, since I can't reach it) and none of it is worth bothering with.

Well, two more weeks until Chu-bra. (Am I the only one who is looking forward to it?) And the next episode of Railgun should be out today, if only I can find it.

UPDATE: Regarding Camphor, Pete comments.

UPDATE: TokyoTosho is back with a place-holder page, which is encouraging. They didn't get sued out of existence or hauled away in chains.

1 I thought you didn't like Sekirei, which was about the same at the serioseness level.

I dunno. Maybe it'd turn out that they're the same. I can't say I'd watch Kampfer all the way through. But it sounds like it might be worth watching a couple of episodes, anyway.

3 That was too subtle, I had someone else pointing out the typo.

4 I wasn't making any kind of reference to anything you did. I hadn't even noticed you had any kind of problem. I just thought the romanization of the name that everyone has been using was strange, and felt like being silly.

5 By the way, regarding the 11+1 scheme, Macademi Wasshoi did the same thing. (And I have never watched the last episode. Not really sure why, just not curious about it.)

6 "Kampfer" means "fighter" in German (although, not in context of airplanes, those are called "jagd", or "hunter"). Remember "Mein Kampf": same stem. It's another case when anime creators reached for something cooler than plain English, and German was it. Nanoha had it too.
