I wanna Guchuko Plushie!!!

It is rare that I am so tempted to actually find and install P2P (Pirate-to-Pirate) software, but Potemayo is torturing me.

I've got the first two episode of it, in fact (thanks, Don!) but I'm afraid to watch them because I think I'd find myself wanting more, and that could only be done by stepping into the P2P swamp. The download site I'm a member of isn't carrying it, and I don't feel comfortable presuming on Don's hospitality any further.

Meanwhile, framegrabs from the series are wonderful and everyone who is watching it seems to like it a lot.

So I keep watching the download site, hoping that they'll start carrying it, but they never seem to. (They prefer violence and fanservice, and there's little or none of either of those in Potemayo.)

Meanwhile, I think it's virtually certain that Potemayo and Guchuko plushies will come onto the market eventually, and I want a Guchuko plushy.

UPDATE: Is it spelled "plushy" or "plushie"?

1 The dictionary sites only have "plushy", and that's as an adjective.

That bastion of historical fact, wikipedia, links both spellings to the same page.

I suspect that it may have started as "plush toy", became "plushy", and by spreading mostly in the plural form, was re-defined as "plushie".  But I am not a nutritional anthro*--err, I mean, I am not an etymologist.

*Free internets for anyone who gets the ref.

2 Neither spelling is in the dictionary. I've seen both used, with "plushie" being a little bit more prevalent than "plushy". Perhaps "UFO catcher" would be a more precise term? We're not after a foot-tall Guchuko, just a life-size one.

Well, I say that. But if you find a foot-tall one, I'll take it!

3 It looks like a life sized (as it were) Guchuko doll would only be about 18 inches tall.

4 Surely she'd be shorter than that? Remember, the human-scale references are to Japanese middle schoolers. (Er... it is middle school, isn't it?) They ain't six feet tall. ;p

5 I think they're in high school.

I'm not a big one for Youtube links, but someone's gone and done Guchuko's greatest hits, a series of video compilations basically just of Guchuko.

Oops, I listed them in the wrong order.

The more I see of this, the more clear it is to me that the conceptual model for Potemayo and Guchuko is feral cats. Even to the point of them hissing at each other, through the window of the school.

I also liked the "trail of food" scene for Christmas -- and the growling dog blocking Guchuko's way.

The tape jokes never get cold. Taping a croquette back together was particularly funny.

Guchuko is certainly one of the most unusual -- and engaging -- characters to come out of anime in a long, long time.

Every time I hear Nene I keep thinking I'm hearing Kaneda Tomoko, but every time I look at the credits it says Kugimiya Rie. She has a little-girl voice, but I didn't realize she could make it sound so much like Kaneda.

As to the question of age, Kyo's height, and her maturity, and her figure, all suggest to me that she's high school. On the other hand, in high school girls and boys wear different uniforms, and in this series they're all the same. Maybe it is middle school after all.

9 Okay, then compare with Yasumi. He's literally head and shoulders taller than Sunao and friends. (Granted, he was on the basketball team. But they never said it was the Olympic one!)

11 The bio for Sunao on the official anime website has him as a middle school student.
