Good Heavens!

Someone on Metafilter linked to Chizumatic! I wonder if he knows I'm persona non grata? (under my real name. Metafilter is the only site on the web where I use a pseudonym, because there are still people who carry a grudge against me from 14 years ago, and would stalk me if they knew.)

As to the question itself, I don't remember any cases of anime in Japanese with Japanese subtitles. The only times I remember seeing Japanese subtitles it was because the audio language was something else, like English or German.

Which wouldn't help this questioner, who apparently wants to listen to Japanese and read it simultaneously.

1 Anime - none, but iM@S video tracks come with original subtitles.

2 If I remember correctly, one of the characters in Excel Saga speaks only in subtitles.

3 The person asking the question wants to read Japanese and hear it at the same time.

4 The best for him or her is to play a fully-voiced VN, really. Toradora Portable or Haganai for PSP are good examples. Unfortunately, in most games the protagonist is unvoiced.

5 Wondering about closed caption subtitles.  They're pretty much universal on English-language DVDs, but I have no idea about Japanese material.

6 I've never checked for closed captions on my Japanese DVDs or on TV Japan, but I'd expect the experience to be sub-optimal for a language learner, because of low resolution and few if any furigana. The ASK Reader series is a much better way to get clean text with matching audio.

7 Crud.  There's a parody series or OAV where they subtitle a character when he speaks because the joke is supposed to be that no-one can understand his accent (despite the character speaking clearly).  But I think it was only a few sentences, and I can't remember the title, either.

8 Even if there was such a thing, I wouldn't trust it to not have subtitles that have been translated to some other language and then translated back to Japanese, resulting in a bad case of "DO NOT WANT."
