1 Yeah, well. Given that it hauled in three quarters of a billion dollars, and Hollywood averages about one original idea per decade, this was inevitable.

2 I'm the only one in my circle of friends who has refused to see that wretched film. I'm appalled that such wonderful visuals was wasted on a hackneyed, imbecilic plot. I'm sure the sequels will be just as moronic if not more so.

So, the wicked Earthers return and nuke the planet from orbit, then resume unobtanium mining...

...

...well, I'm out of ideas...

4 Hmm. Do I sense some serious shark jumping coming in the near future?

5 I thought the FIRST movie jumped the shark.

6 Wait a minute--I just spotted a howler in that linked article. Avatar had a "heavily developed" story line? Just how much time was spent on that...that...excrescence

7 I think they meant "heavy-handed". Common mistake.

8 . . .what the hell do you use for a *plot* for more than one sequel? Its not like the Pandorans could do anything against an actual military force invading the place ( as opposed to a regiment of corporate mercs with only light combat vehicles ).

9 The second sequel is an alternate universe to the first sequel. In the second, the Pandorans win, despite all sense and evidence to the contrary. For extra giggles, they counter-invade, and there is a bunch of heavy handed nonsense about their occupation of earth. (Thus setting off the third sequel, where the ragtag bunch of Terrans fight off their Pandoran overlords.)
