1 January & a book adaptation?

It's not a book, it's a short story. I'm a bit worried about what they might have done to make it long enough for a movie.

But sometimes adaptations of short stories can turn into excellent movies e.g. "Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?"

I fear you're right. For one thing, the character listed as "The Unmarried Mother" is a gorgeous redheaded woman. In the story, the "Unmarried Mother" is a man. And the actress playing the Unmarried Mother doesn't look anything at all like the actor playing the Bartender.

3 According to the description at wikipedia, the plot is similar, though changed to meet the times.  Over at IMDB, they say the actress had to spend close to five hours a day in the makeup chair... between that and special effects, we'll probably have a remarkable lookalike.

I know what I could do to someone's face in an hour with a makeup kit... a professional with premade prosthetics and all the equipment in the world and a lot of experience would be hundreds of times better.  I think, of all the things about the film to worry about, that's not one of them.

4 According to the trailer, they're going to incorporate the actual plot twist of the story.

7 I watched the movie last night, and it was far better than I expected it to be.

8 This is an Australian made movie that was released there for a couple of months now.  It's only now hitting the theaters in United States.
