Earbugs

A lot of anime music can be thought of as earbugs. I keep hearing music from anime in my head when I'm doing other things, and sometimes it takes me a while to place the song.

Tonight I had a phrase from one thing going through my head while I was playing MOM, and simply couldn't place it.

Then just as I was about to start taking a shower, it came to me. "That's it!" I said, outloud, and my neighbors probably thought I was nuts. (Well, they aren't really wrong, but...)

(It turns out it was music which plays at the very end of the first episode of Real Bout High School, which I started rewatching recently.)

1 Earbug is nothing. I keep trying to sing them, without much success.

2 "Kirameku namida wa hoshi ni..."  *cough*  Ahem.  Truly, I have a voice made for silent movies.

3 I thought the term was earworm.  But I've experienced the same thing, anime themes going through my head, usually in the shower, but I have worse luck placing them.

4 More google hits for "worm", but "bug" is a synonym.  (Urban Dictionary lists both, ferinstance.)

5 A few weeks ago, a friend of mine had an anime theme stuck in his head.  He was able to hum a few bars, but didn't know the words and couldn't place the song.  It sounded familiar to me, but I likewise couldn't place it.  We asked most of the other people at our anime club meeting, and just about everyone recognized the song, but no one could remember what it was or where it was from.  It turned out to be the opening to Di Gi Charat.
