AsoIku WMG

I created a "Wild Mass Guessing" page for Asobi ni Iku Yo over at TVTropes and put my speculation about the true Catheans in it.

1 Someday I should write up my proof that Cyber-X is the villain in Hand Maid May.

On a related note, I clicked through some of the others, and found the one about Rune Soldier Louie being the bastard son of the king and the high priestess. According to the Wikipedia entry for the novels, it's eventually revealed that he's the son of the king and an elf, making him the least half-elvish-looking half-elf in anime history.

2 I have mixed feelings about the WMGs.  There's a lot of really interesting ideas, like this one, on most of the pages.  However, sometimes you have to trudge through dozens of random, arbitrary nonsense entries to find them.  Not *every* in existence needs a Dr Who crossover WMG.

TV Tropes banned me for correcting an entry that insisted the Egyptians never practiced slavery on the "You Fail History Forever" page. Maybe it was my edit comment that pissed everyone off: "Yes, there is [evidence of slavery in Egypt]. Sorry if that sounds rude, but there's really no polite way to say 'you're wrong' without sounding kind of like saying 'you're right.'"

4 TVtropes never managed to keep my interest. Also, it became worse with age. I read through their list of anime tropes once and that was it forever.

At this point it's so huge that I don't believe any single person has read it all, even those who are running the site.

But it's become one of my go-to sites for looking up things about series I'm interested in. It has a different point of view than, say, ANN or Wikipedia.

6 It has its flaws, but I like it.

( the fact that I am responsible for a couple still-extant trope pages has nothing to do with it at all. . . *cough* )
