Dominos -- the test

So I decided to give it a try. I ended up buying one of their preconfigured pizzas. It has a fancy name, but what it amounted to was double pepperoni and extra cheese:

And it wasn't bad at all. Including delivery it was $22.45, but it looks like I'm going to get 4 meals out of it, so the price isn't unreasonable.

The pepperoni pretty much dominated, in terms of flavor, but the cheese came through too. They've included romano and parmesan in it, and it actually tastes like something. Because both of those were so strong, I didn't really notice the sauce or crust, except to the extent that they didn't make the pizza lousy.

1 Four meals? For me that would be Two dinners, a breakfast and a lunch...if it made it all the way. (I like pizza way too much to eat it often.)

2 So, um... that'd be four meals then?

3 Can't really judge the size properly from this pic, but I'd say that'd take me about 15 minutes.

4 It was a 14" pizza. (I thought about putting something in there for scale. Too late now, though.)

5 Last pizza I had was back in Decmeber from a local shop that just opened up a couple weeks earlier. It wasn't bad, it even tasted pretty good cold (which it the real test of a pizza,) but boy, after a couple slices the garlic became overpowering.

7 "*doesn't eat, and has never liked, pizza*" Those words...can you even put them together that way? http://www.tv.com/spongebob-squarepants/the-bully---just-one-bite/episode/80204/summary.html

8 Oh, I forgot to ask: Steven, was the pizza worthy of being ordered again?

Posted by: RickC at January 13, 2010 12:36 PM (Uvi5n)

9 I probably won't get that particular one again (too much cheese) but I might try it again, in a different formulation. I got the "deep dish" crust this time, and it might be interesting to try the thin crust next time.

10 I didn't order anything, but I was surprised how far you have to go in the ordering process to find out what anything costs.

11 So I ate another two pieces just now. It doesn't really microwave quite how you'd like; the crust turned to mush, for one thing. But it was good. The flavors haven't vanished.

12 Yeah, reheating pizza is a pain. Toaster oven = something with the consistency of the plate it's served on. Microwave = something with the consistency of the greasy box it came in. Occasionally I get the right combo of microwave preheat & oven finish.

13 It isn't likely to become a regular part of my diet, mainly because when I feel the urge to eat pizza, I eat these or these instead. They cost about half as much per serving, and I like them better. Plus they stay in my freezer until I'm ready to eat them.
