DBK -- making schedule?

I think what we heard about Dragonball Kai when it first started was that they were going to try to compress the series down to about 95 episodes. The original series was 285 episodes, so that would mean about 33%.

The most recent episode of DBK is #33, and it corresponds to events in ep 71 of the original series, about 46%. If they keep going at this rate, DBK will end up being 132 episodes. I wonder if even they know how long it'll end up being at this point?

There's a lot of flab that could be excised entirely. They've already excised enormous stretches of the original series (most notably the trip by Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan to Namek, and a long stretch of Gohan trying to survive on his own in the wilderness). There's more that can be. I bet the entire Garlic Junior saga will be gone without a trace, for instance. The "Great Saiyaman saga" could be reduced to about 5 episodes, or even less if they completely excise the afterlife martial arts tournament. All they need to do is keep the bare minimum to explain why Videl becomes a fixture in Gohan's life.

I'm expecting the final battle between Frieza and Goku to be drastically reduced, but even so the first major story arc will need at least ten more episodes.
