Hmmmm, maybe it was an HD after all.

So I swapped the new drives back into Alcyone this morning, with the expectation that it would begin to growl almost immediately and thus I could be sure it was the fan. Only it hasn't been growling.

Only time will tell, of course.

UPDATE: Alas, it was the fan, alright. Alcyone is at the computer doctor now.

1 I haven't invested much time looking at series for Spring 2011.  However, 2 of the new show have the following review:

X-Men: Worse than Ironman anime.
Tiger and Bunny: The Incredibles where the 'heroes' are sponsored by real life corporation.

2 . . .you know, I had the weirdest question pop into my mind:

"Are computer doctors like veterinarians, in that sometimes they have to put your desktop down for its own good?"

3 I dunno, I'd think of it more like a mad scientist.  The particular machine may die, but others will rise made from it's parts.

Ok, maybe that is more like organ donation, but I am partial to mad scientists.
