Um. Aren't the Strike Witches partnered with dog spirits? (Yeah, I know, the tails. Sigh. Don't get in the way of a meme with science and logic. At least they don't have to worry that I'm killing them by being scientific.)

I thought they had various totem animals depending on the individual.

Each of them had a different animal, and they weren't all dogs. Wilcke's was a wolf. Shirley's was a jackrabbit. Lucchini's was a black panther. The other three I show here all had various kinds of house cat.
