Pete is watching Aria and apparently isn't enchanted by it. Which just goes to show that you can never tell what someone will like.

He's legendarily a fan of day-in-the-life shows about interesting characters, yet this one doesn't grab him. Me, I tend to hate series which have no series-level plot line, yet I was pulled right into the screen by this one.

No, if the magic hasn't happened by ep 9, it probably won't ever happen. The ending is good but it isn't really any different than the rest of the series. This show is pretty consistent (except for ep 8); it isn't an up-and-down series like Kamichu. And especially, if he hates the background music, then he probably isn't going to ever like the show.

That's how it goes sometimes. I won't feel as if my ox has been gored if Pete doesn't end up liking Aria the Animation. (Even though I gave it 4 stars.)

UPDATE: For me, the magic happened in the first half of the first episode, when Ai blackmailed Akari into giving her a ride. And again in the first episode when Ai hid behind Aika when Alicia showed up. Those were very human moments, as well as being funny.
