4 minutes

Author found a post by a guy who started watching Divergence Eve in hopes of coming up with material for sardonic big-boobs jokes. Instead, he got four minutes into the first episode and decided he'd had enough.

The first episode of DE is deliberately cryptic and confusing. It's out of order, and you can't fully understand what happens in it until you reach the point in the series where it really belongs. But our hero wasn't interested in giving it a fair chance. He wanted to snark at it.

All I can do is sigh, roll my eyes, note that he's made 108 posts about Madlax, and consider the source.

1 This will inevitably sound like I'm snarking, and I don't mean for it to sound that way, but haven't you given up some stuff before the OP had even finished? Like Maison Ikkoku, for instance. You should send that to Australia. Heck, send everything you don't like to Australia. I'll divvy it up with Pixy Misa and we'll all win.

2 But I already have Maison Ikkoku!

I never even made it to the OP on Eiken.

It's true that I gave up on Maisson Ikkoku in a very short period of time. But the reason is because I came away with a true impression of a certain aspect of it. I don't care for that particular style of character art and character animation.

I didn't start watching it with the full intention of hating it, and I didn't watch it looking for excuses to throw it away.

4 You dodged a bullet, Steven: Eiken is the reason I'm gay. Well, no, it's not, but it certainly helped.

Eiken certainly is the stuff of nightmares.

But apparently not for everyone. It's an amazingly successful manga.

6 Yes, and people like American Idol, too.  Which just goes to show that most people are unaware of Sturgeon's Law.
