...and then I woke up.

Is this a dream? Or a nightmare?

1 I did once successfully bypass the Comcast phone tree by citing the SNR number the cable modem was showing for the connection, which was clearly 15dB below the specs I found online for the minimum that would work with the cable modem in question. Most cable modems are sitting on 192.168.100.1, if you feel like poking around (where by "you" I mean anyone who reads this), or trying this stunt yourself.

Come to think of it, this isn't hard data to come by, the cable modems I've had always spit it out with no password or special login required, I wonder why "now let's browse to the cable modem's URL" isn't just part of the script? A late part, perhaps (since we all know the 'restart the computer' is in there for good reason...), but it ought to be in there somewhere.

2 Over the years, I have been surprised at the number of times that one reboot really did solve what I thought were deeper problems.  However, when their telephone system drops my call as they try to transfer me to another department, I do wish they'd record on my account that I've already rebooted several times, and don't need to do it again when I call back...

3 I have to reboot Uiharu, my iPaq, on a regular basis because it's the only thing that will unwedge its USB port.
