Last Friday I tried doing a post on the fourth episode of Upotte. The idea was to blog about it while I was watching it for the first time, and take frame grabs along the way. But it took two hours or so for me to get through the first 16 minutes, and I had about 50 frame grabs. And I was getting bored, and so I took a nap. Once I woke up I didn't have any urge to keep watching/writing/grabbing.
And I haven't had since.
The story in ep 4 is that M16 is an idol, and does photoshoots to be on the cover of a gun magazine. She's also a bit stuck up about it. At one point she calls L85 a "dud", and L85 runs away crying.
Part of why she was on edge was that the photographer told her that the cover of the issue after hers was probably going to feature AK, who M16 really despises.
There's going to be a shooting competition, with 2-gun/girl teams. M16's scheduled team mate is L85. And two new girls show up: SAKO RK95 (Finland) and Galil AR (Israeli). They're described as using NATO 5.56 ammo but being based on the basic AK design. (Whether that's the AK-47 or the AK-74 wasn't clear, and maybe it doesn't matter.)
There's a confrontation at a gun store, and a bunch of exposition about the Viet Nam war, and that's about the point where I stopped.
I know what's coming: M16 will apologize to L85. M16 will blow one shot, but L85 will surpass herself and win the competition and be the hero. The two AK derivatives will slink off in shame and we won't see them again.
I don't wanna do this any more! This show absolutely reeks.
Granted, I imagine you'd drop the series flat when Sako enjoys the violence a bit too much. I'll leave it there.

Israelis not just copied from Valmet, they actually bought a big stock of Valmet receivers, upon which initial Galils were built.
