1 It is 10:30 and no one came this year. What in the heck am I going to do with 12 bags of Milky Ways? (I had intended to give one bag to each kid.)

2 Whenever FedEx or UPS delivers something during the next six months, say "great costume!" to the driver and hand him one of the bags.

I went over to my sister's to hand out candy this year and realized it must actually be a lot safer trick-or-treating than it used to be.  Over half the boys were dressed in all black costumes (I mean literally from head to toe) and there were many full face masks. I remember PSA's around Halloween advising parents to get bright costumes for their kids and not to let them wear full masks for their own safety.

3 When we went out as kids, my parents stayed home. Apparently it isn't like that any more; usually the groups I've seen in previous years included at least one mother.

I bought too much candy this year, since it was my first time in this apartment.  Granted, it was raining and I'm on the third floor, so I shouldn't have been too surprised I only got one trick-or-treater.

Steven, I was a kid in the eighties to early nineties, and my parents would drive us into town (we lived out in the sticks) and sit at my aunt and uncle's and drink while me and my sister went out trick or treating.  I don't know how things work back home now, but it probably has changed to having a parent as well.  It's a small town, so it's possible that they still let the kids go by themselves.

5 We only had one kid the year before last, and none last year, so I didn't get any candy this year.
So of course, after 8, we had 2 sets of 2, and I had to keep the lights off.  I felt bad about not having anything for them, so I guess next year I'll get at least one bag regardless.
