Punchline -- dropped

I don't think I wrote about this. Episode 7 was entirely too stupid. There was a plot point that rises, or drops, to the level of deus ex machina -- except that it's too stupid for "deus". Spoilers below the fold.

Our Hero has travelled back ten days and reoccupied his physical body, and with his knowledge of what's coming hopes to prevent catastrophe.

So he ends up back in his room, and that damned cat shows up. And tells him two rules:

1. You must not change history without my permission.

2. You must not tell anyone else the truth.

And then informs him that the loop has run more than 6 billion times without success -- but this time, for sure! (Haruhi is a piker by comparison.)

Now, since telling everyone is the most obvious way to deal with the situation, it means the writers have abandoned all semblance of writing a coherent story and are relying on contrivance.

And that means I don't care any more.
