More on Bikini Warriors

Here's another post about it. It had an interesting point: the show backer is Hobby Japan, and:

Hobby Japan has often used anime as a form of advertisement for their erotic figurines. To my knowledge, every anime project they've backed so far has contained ‘stop whatever you're doing and start fapping' levels of nudity.

That's pretty crude, but it got me curious so I took a look at their production record. In addition to this show, I find:

Hagure Yuusha
Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou
Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls (and Bride)
...and a couple of Queen's Blade shows.

He's right about the nudity; they all have it. But what I find more interesting is that these shows are not invariably crap. I really liked Daimaou, and Hagure Yuusha wasn't terrible (damning with faint praise).

Samurai Girls (and Bride) and Queen's Blade definitely were crap, but this is still one (or one-and-a-half) decent shows to their credit.

So maybe, maybe, Bikini Warriors might be half-way decent.

He brings up a different point: all of the above shows ran uncensored on AT-X. If this one does, too, then we won't have to wait for the BDs for our cheap thrills.

It's a bit of concern that they haven't revealed the anime production company yet or any of the voice talent, with first broadcast less than two months away.

I still expect it to be crap, but I'm holding onto a faint hope that it might actually tell a decent story about interesting characters, amidst all the fan service.

UPDATE: Actually, they are starting to reveal staff. The production company is someone called "feel." They've done a lot of shows, none of which are on my list of "memorable and valued". On the contrary, most of them are on my "in the toilet" list. Like KissxSis (ick). And Otoboku (double ick).

1 I found Hyakka Ryouran better than Hagure, but that was mostly for the comedy.  And good voice work.  They paid well for that cast.
Still, I couldn't get through even an episode of any of the Queen's Blade series.  So, there's that.
Daimaou was a good watch.  But I doubt we're getting that quality of writing.

2 The ANN link, oddly enough, lists them doing "Animation Production" for these shows. The only series that they ran completely was Shikabane Hime, and that one was pretty decent, if a bit dark by nature.

3 Now they're revealing voice actors. The Fighter's voice was also Brioche D'Arquan. The Paladin was also Yagami Hayate. The other two (as I write this) aren't anyone I have particular memories of.
