Mondaiji-tachi spoilers

It turns out that there are a lot of subsites about anime at Wikia.com. It has become one of my go-to places when I want to find out something.

This morning it occurred to me that there might be a Mondaijitachi wiki and I looked, and there it was. So I did some reading. Spoilers below the fold.

One nice thing about this particular wiki is that it's primarily based on the light novels, and so the information in it goes well beyond the anime, which only covers the first two books.

Some of the cool stuff: Jin Russell eventually makes a ring and uses it to summon Black Percher AKA Pest after she was defeated. She becomes part of the No Names. She becomes a maid, like Leticia. (If you don't remember, she's the Demon Lord formed out of the power of millions of deaths in Europe caused by the Black Death.)

The water god that Izayoi defeated in ep 1 is named Shirayuki-hime, and eventually the two of them engage in a very extended gift game of 100 games. Izayoi wins every one of them, and as a result Shirayuki-hime also joins the No Names and becomes their third maid. (She has a humanoid form in addition to her form as a giant water snake.) I'm not sure if it's permanent, though.

Kasukabe had the ability to talk to animals even before her father gave her the pendant. She thinks her father carved it, but it looks like it was actually created by one of the Demon Lords in the Little Garden.

The woman that raised Izayoi was named Canaria, and she used to be the head of the community which eventually became the No-Names. Demon Lords attacked the village of the Rabbit people, and Canaria led her community to fight to defend them.

Unfortunately, they lost; KuroUsagi was the only one they were able to save. As a result, the Demon Lords took all the adults away (and the name, and the banner) leaving only the children behind to fend for themselves. Jin became leader because he was the eldest. Also, KuroUsagi managed to reach them and join them.

Canaria seems to have escaped to Earth and began collecting hyper-powerful children in a custom orphanage. Izayoi was one of them.

All three kids are, as expected, on a growth path in terms of power. In the case of Kasukabe, it's obvious: she keeps meeting and befriending new animals and gains new powers thereby. I don't know the outcome but there's a picture from one of the books of her fighting a dragon, something I had hoped for. If she manages to make friends with him, she could become titanically powerful. (Fire breath, anyone?)

It's not so much that Izayoi develops new powers as that he finally begins to reveal power he already had. He's been sandbagging, deliberately.

Asuka ultimately finds out that one of her abilities is to take existing magic items and to drastically increase their abilities. We actually saw her do that with the Water Tree when attacking Perseus. Her power-growth path main consists of her acquiring items and learning how to hyper-power them.

The books confirm that she did gain the Flute of Ratten.

Deen isn't invulnerable; it's eventually damaged in a battle with a dragon. It doesn't say how major the damage was or whether it can be repaired.

But other items also get lost, and people lose powers. KuroUsagi's sun armor eventually is lost, and she loses a lot of her powers.

The Griffin that Kasukabe defeated is named Gry, and he can transform into human form. He eventually joins the No Names.

From the sound of it, there's a fair amount of "two steps forward, one step back" going on in the series -- and that's a good thing. If the No Names always won, it would take all the suspense out of the story. As it is, you neven know what's going to happen and you can't assume it's going to be a good ending every time -- even for Izayoi.

The Wikia has an article for Laius, but it doesn't say what I thought was obvious: Izayoi killed him.

2 I don't recall seeing any such mention. I think she learns of it eventually but she didn't know when she recruited him.
