Nanatsu no Taizai -- ep 24

Hendrickson has been fully converted into a demon, and the normal attacks by the Sins and the Holy Knights don't seem to affect him. So Meliodas pulls out his final, best attack: Revenge Counter.

It requires assistance from lots of people who are there, so he has Gowther send the plan into everyone's brains.

Which rather surprises everyone besides Meliodas. Gowther had his head torn off and they all thought he was dead. But he's fine.

And it seems to have worked. Battle is over.

But Hawk was fried. He took a shot which otherwise would have killed Meliodas. Ban is strongly affected; he talks to the pile of charcoal and apologizes for all the bad things he said to Hawk. Ban continues to call him Shishou but it's no longer mockery.

But then they hear Hawk's voice. The ash all blows away, and inside he's alive, albeit much reduced in size. (And there was much rejoicing...)

Merlin has given Diane a potion that allows her to reduce her size at will. So now she works in the Boar's Hat.

Margaret says, "I never dreamed we would ever be able to sit down together like this again." But Elizabeth is preoccupied.

Then there's a big WHUMP! outside.

Merlin has recruited them to travel to Camelot to help Arthur, details to be revealed in the next series, whenever. It's going to take a long time for Hawk Mama to walk that far, and one thing that's going to happen is that Merlin is going to explain what happened 10 years previously. I imagine another thing is that Merlin will spend time with Elizabeth and help her get her power under control so that she can use it at will. It's obviously a great asset, if she can.

But that's for another day. For the time being, she's the honorary Seventh Sin, by consensus.

1 Sorry, I don't know how I managed to block comments on this one. Accident.

2 That was a nice ending to a very good series. I do hope there is a second run. The teaser at the end seems to imply yes.

3 It won't be soon. The first series runs up to about manga chapter 102, and the manga is currently about chapter 118. If they want to do another anime, they'll badly outrun the manga, and historically speaking this has usually been a bad thing (see e.g. Venus versus Virus).

4 It was a good end to a fun series.  And I do hope we get a sequel, which wouldn't surprise me for a Spring 2017 release.  Or Fall 2016.  Depending on the manga still being popular and the anime having done well for everyone involved.

5 Oh, I should also note that, while it was obvious Hawk wasn't going to stay dead, much credit for actually throwing a massive curveball.  I was not expecting that route.  It wasn't some trick.  Hawk is, obviously, far more than just a pig.  (Mostly because Hawk can talk)  It now leaves even more questions about another member of our band of super-powerful misfits.

Also, they've changed the opening narration a few times, and they did again this time.  And pretty much just outright stated that Meliodas is thousands of years old, since he's apparently seen the many wars over the ages.   They managed the close the series out, very neatly, yet there are so many open & unanswered questions.  Well done all around.
