Lagniappe

I got my latest order from Robert's Anime Corner Store today, and they tossed in a handful of official "Robert's Anime Corner Store" chocolate dollars. It's good chocolate, too.

Oh, and it was shipped the day after I ordered, as always. Even though it's Christmas season and presumably they're very busy. (I hope they're busy; I've heard that this year's Christmas shopping season has been a disappointment for some places!)

UPDATE: I wonder if this is something like coffee mugs and T-shirts where there are businesses in the business of making custom ones with your very own logo or graphic on them?

Seems like it must be. How long before Cafepress starts offering them?

UPDATE: So what did I buy? For the last year, the mascot on my computer table has been Katsuragi from Senran Kagura, and I decided it was time for a change. More below the fold.

So this looked interesting:

It actually turned out to be rather more ecchi than I expected. Usually figurines come in boxes which proudly allow you to see the figurine inside, sometimes from all four sides. This one came in the figurine-equivalent of a plain brown bag: the box didn't have any windows, and it didn't have any pictures, either. All it had was the logo of the company, and the name of the girl, in relatively small print, on the bottom. ("Kondo Yume", in case you're interested. She's an original; not part of any game or anime. More's the pity.)

It's the most... explicit... figurine I've ever bought. I didn't think Japanese law allowed them to do that. (Blush)

But now that I've spent the money, by damn I'll keep it.

I wonder if you can get some kind of anime sticker to replace that piece of tape on your webcam.  I know the EFF sells EFF-branded stickers.

(As it turns out, quick searches on Amazon and Google show mostly boring stuff.)

"Don't fix what ain't broke." What's wrong with a piece of surgical tape?

I don't look for elaborate solutions when simple ones will serve.

3 I should think that randomly mooning the camera would train to train any potential viewers to stop turning it on.

"What's wrong with a piece of surgical tape?"

Nothing.  I just thought the idea that there might be something you could put there that would be funny, would be funny.

My co-workers, at least the ones that don't use their webcams, just put electrical tape on, because it at least matches the bezel color, but they're women, so maybe that matters more to them.

5 It's good to know I'm not the only person who does this. I wonder how widespread it is?

I believe it's quite widespread ever since the story broke a couple of years ago about that school that was activating the cameras on students' laptops.

I never bothered, myself, but I figure nobody wants to see my ugly mug.

7 That story was what inspired me.

We wanted a special Omake for holiday orders this year. After getting samples from 5 or 6 firms, we went with an outfit in TX who made 10,000 of them for us. They used a special imported Belgian chocolate that I thought was the best. I don't think café press will offer them anytime soon - the company had to make two custom dies (one for each side) with our art and that ran around $500 in setup fees. If you're curious about how they are made, look here:

You know, they've caused us a few problems that we didn't anticipate. Some of the younglings don't seem to know what they are and have written in wondering what they were for or asking what they were supposed to do with them. Ay Ya!

9 We're getting old, Bob! (Those kids probably don't know what "carriage return" and "line feed" really mean, either.)
