Bad choices

When I choose to follow a show, one of the things I have to do is choose which circle's releases I'll collect. Unfortunately, this season I seem to have made extremely bad choices even though I stuck to "name brands". It's gotten to the point that I download the HorribleSubs version of each one, watch once and then delete it, and then wait for the permanent one I chose for my archive.

But sometimes I have to wait a long time.

For Madan no Ou to Vanadis I chose Hiryuu. They're up to episode 4. Ep 5 hit the torrents last Saturday but it's anybody's guess when Hiryuu will get around to doing a version of it.

I've been following Hatsuyuki for the new seasons of Fairy Tail and DBK. They've gotten in the habit of accumulating two or three (or four!) episodes to do all at once. Right now they've released episode 31 of Fairy Tail even though ep 32 came out on Sunday. As to DBK, they've released up to episode 24. Ep 31 hit the raws yesterday, so they're almost two months behind.

I feel bad about watching HorribleSubs eps because they're ripping off Crunchyroll and Funimation. Honor among thieves, and all that. But it's getting to the point where there really isn't any other alternative.

The one bright spot has been Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu. I chose Commie, and they've actually been beating HorribleSubs out with each episode. They're using video with the TBS watermark, too, but for all I know they're stealing the Crunchyroll translations.

Man, you just can't get good help these days, especially free and voluntary.

I've been waiting for years for Wasurenai to bring out the second season of Marie & Gali. Ep 2 came out last April, and the series itself ran in 2010.

The way things are going we may have to wait until December for someone to get around to translating the Mouretsu Pirates movie. (moan)

1 It could be worse. For example, it looks like Doki dropped Yama no Susume after ep.15, or having some organizational difficulties. Horrible tried to step in, but they rolled 16 into their batch. Good thing I'm okay with watching it raw

2 You can watch these both on Hulu for free (though with annoying ads & about one week delay):

I don't want to watch on one-week delay. I want to watch them when they come out!

The reason I chose the circles I did was because in the past they've been good about timely releases. But sure not this season.

4 HS has actually been using Commie's subs for the 720p version of Twintails.  It's why Nyaa tags it with a different color.

5 I've never understood the NyaaTorrent colors. Probably they're described somewhere on the site but I've never found it.
