A hell of a week

Ed Driscoll has a good point: it's been a hell of a week.

It's been the kind of week that drives a man to drink. Too bad for me I don't drink any more.

After looking at our businesses employee healthcare renewal that's coming up I'm seriously thinking about starting. I keep watching Krugman talk on TV about how healthcare is now a civil right for everyone with the ACA driving premiums down across so many markets and then looking at our 42% y/y premium increase for 2015 and wondering what we're doing wrong. So we're going to have to say goodbye to our nice PPO and welcome our new $3,000 deductible HMO overlords. That plans premium is still 16% higher than the one we are leaving. What used to pass for catastrophic coverage is the new 'good'. I guess they didn't lie, if you like your policy you can keep it, they just forgot the part about how it will bankrupt you to do so. They really have us in a box this time, with no way out.

And yeah, I’m a little salty about it.
